About Gemwz

Artist Profile

Grace Wachter, better known by her stage name Gemwz (pronounced, Gems) is an American singer, rapper, and songwriter based in Nashville, TN. Gemwz is most known from her popular song “Bad Dayz,” derived from her initial album, “Quarantine.”

Early Life: Born on July 17th, 2002, Gemwz grew up in the small town of Coralville, Iowa. Growing up, she loved creating art and sharing it with others. However, when she entered her junior year of high school, she had the opportunity to take college classes and graduate early. Not wanting to pass up on the opportunity, she focused more on her schoolwork and lost sight of her art.

After receiving an Associates in Science, Gemwz struggled with life outside of college. While she loved science and healthcare, it didn’t feel like the right career move for herself. Unsure of who she was anymore, she turned back to art and instead played music and wrote lyrics. With her songs focusing on the struggles she faced in coming to terms with her identity, people related to her and didn’t feel as alone.

Music Career: After gaining a following in her town, Gemwz recorded her music and shared it with the world. Performing under the name Gemwz (based on her initials), she’s incorporated multiple genres into her music, including rap, indie-pop, acoustic, and pop-rock. Wanting to continue writing music that others can relate to, Gemwz is determined to continue writing music for those who are struggling to help show them they are not truly alone.
